An Unexpected Update

Marine Parade, Lyme Regis, Dorset

I wasn't going to post an update until my midyear one in June, but I've been so busy with stuff that I haven't managed to finish the articles I'm working on and get them published. I've been panicking a bit, as the last two months are rather empty, so I thought I'd give you a taster as to what's coming up.

Marine Parade, Lyme Regis, Dorset

First up is Marine Parade in Lyme Regis. I've completed the bulk of it but it's been long and laborious so there's still a fair bit to do. Because I haven't had much time I've just been doing a bit here and there but now I've got some more time - and energy - it should be up within the next few days. Hopefully!

Fore Street in Beer has been on the back burner for a long time, as I'd intended to go back and take more photos. However, it's already threatening to be longer than Marine Parade, so I decided just to use what I've got after all! Another one I'll probably have to do a bit at a time.

Couchill Woods is something I'd fought long and hard with, lol. Tried several times to write the article, editing and re-editing, changing things around, re-doing then deleting everything and starting again two or three times. Most of the photos are rather bad, different photo styles/colour, etc, from three different visits with little cohesion between the good ones. The information was just as bad and it was a total mess.

However, what I might do is to make the hard decision to only keep the decent photos and rescan them. They don't tell a story that way but if I make it short and simple at least I can show how magical the place is. So I'm going to give it another go. Although I do reserve the right to scrap it completely if I can't get it to work! ;)

Then there are more in the Useful Books series to do, the second half of Weather Lore, and two or three articles which I've lost enthusiasm for. But, I do have some visits planned for new photo shoots, which I'm pretty excited about.

There's also the separate article about the Infant School & Schoolmaster's House in Seaton from the Former Schools and Colleges blog, that I've taken more photos of. I'm almost ready to set up my new scanner - once I've got a whole morning free - so I'll be able to scan the new photos for that.

And a fun one about local metal road covers, which I'm still doing research for.

So that's about it for now. The new photo visits include the ones which were in the last Odds & Ends post that I can add to, making decent articles out of them, plus another thatched cottage and a couple of shops from the Listed Buildings. They're all in Seaton, as disabilities still prevent travel, but we live in hope, lol.

It's a bit late but there's still plenty of blooms on the cherry trees, so I wish you all a lovely Cherry Blossom time. :)
